An Insight Into The Interview Process - Human resource is one of the most important resources of an organisation. Many companies spend a lot of money, effort and time to hire good employees who can become an asset to the organisation and contribute towards its growth. One wrong selection can prove to be very costly for the organisation. 

Big companies have separate teams looking after the job interview process and induction of the employees. A small mistake in the hiring can create a difficult situation for the company. Each company has its own model for the selection of the appropriate employee depending upon the skill requirements for each vacant position. 

For example a company which is in the service sector will have an entirely different selection process than a company which is a manufacturing concern. Not only the selection process differs from company to company, it also differs for different profiles within each company. 

For example the selection process of a finance manager will be different from the selection process of a sales executive.

The process of recruitment may involve a number of stages testing one or more skill at each level. A job interview process for selection of the suitable candidate may involves – an initial screening of the resumes, telephonic interview to judge the basic caliber of the candidates, a written aptitude test, a written test for judging specific technical skills, an HR (Human Resource) interview, a behavioral interview, a technical interview, a group discussion round, a group panel interview, a final interview by the would be superior of the candidate, etc. 

Some companies also take stress interviews of some candidates to judge how they react in a pressure situation. If the candidate keeps calm and composed and is confident throughout, the chances are bright and vice versa. The interview process for some profiles can last for more than a month for some companies. 

This could be because there is no urgency of filling up the vacant position or the right candidate is yet to come or there is a requirement to judge a number of skills and that requires time. Selection time for each profile may vary according to the selection process, urgency to fill up the vacant position, availability of suitable candidates, etc. 

Many companies hire job consultants or go for campus placements to get a large number of options.

It is not an easy task to crack the interview process unless your skills match the exact requirements of the position in hand and you have an additional skill to convince the interviewers that you actually possess those skills. 

Everything is being judged from the way to are dressed to the way you behave. You need to understand that your body language, the answers you give, the confidence level, flexibility shown, salary demanded, punctuality, attitude, understanding etc. all make an impact. 

The list of criteria for judgement is endless and one can go on and on mentioning the same. Thus it is recommended that you thoroughly understand what the company is looking for and what will be expected out of you during the interview process. 

Unless you have a clear picture of the profile you want to go for and the company you want to join, you will not be able to convince the interviewers. It is good to convince yourself first that you are the best candidate for the profile than anyone else. 

This will boost your confidence. If you want to be successful in the interview, there is no harm if you read online interview tips or approach your elder brother, sister or friends for help. They might give you a sound piece of advice.
