There are many popular recruitment strategies for businesses to find the best and the brightest talent available and get them to commit to a new job. Some of the most popular strategies include using: headhunters, employee referrals, networking at conferences, LinkedIn, and postings on Craigslist.

Using headhunters and professional recruiters has been an age old strategy, where a company will hire a recruiting firm to help them source quality candidates for positions they are looking to fill. 

The recruiters have a heavy incentive to find a candidate that gets the job because there are high commissions available and they'll spend all day looking at resumes, setting up job postings and cold calling candidates to help the company that hired them. 

Headhunters are great because they usually know the best places to look for quality candidates and specialize in recruiting for specific types of jobs so they have access to many potential candidates that could be perfect for any company who is recruiting.

Another popular tactic is employee referrals, since employees have an incentive to refer someone in their network to open positions because most companies pay great referral bonuses to employees that refer a friend who gets employed. 

The employee's friend also wins because they get to hear about a new job, and find themselves in hopefully a better workplace where they already have a friend. 

Networking at conferences and events has been another popular way for businesses to hire the right people, since you get to meet people looking for jobs and get to chat with them, casually, about what they've done, and how they might be qualified to work with you.

Searching through your LinkedIn network and your 2nd and 3rd degree networks is useful too because you may find great potential candidates that you're indirectly connected to, and can ask your connections for warm introductions. 

Craigslist is an often used recruitment strategy because you get to access local candidates at a cheap job posting fee and get to put as much detail as possible for eager applicants to read and deeply consider if what your offering is right for them.
